Pezzan combines religious art, a history dating back to 996 and a 53-kilometre cycling route through fields and hedgerows. If you are choosing a place with cultural and historical traces and a rural setting for your trip to Italy, you will encounter very different facets here within a compact thematic area.

Church Art in the Parish Church

The parish church in Pezzan is dedicated to the “Santi Vito e Compagni Martiri”. Its main altarpiece dates from 1850 and is attributed to Leandro Guadagnin. The church also houses a wooden Madonna del Rosario from 1606; the artist is unknown.

Via Postumia and the History of Pezzan

The northern part of Pezzan is connected with the ancient Via Postumia. The Oratorio della Madonna delle Grazie, a peripheral church, is located at via Postumia Romana Ovest 1 in Pezzan d’Istrana. Pezzan’s history also reaches far back: Pezzan was first mentioned in 996 in a document issued by Bishop Rozone of Treviso. In the same year, the Bishop of Treviso gave the forests, the village and the church of San Vito, as it then existed, to Mogliano Abbey and the Benedictines. The name Pezzan is said to derive from “fundus pettianus”, belonging to the settler Pettius in the 4th or 5th century.

Cycling through Fields and Hedgerows

The “Pedalando Istrana” cycling route is 53 kilometres long, runs through fields and hedgerows, and connects the route with Istrana’s historical heritage. This gives you a clear focus away from dense urban structures: the route can be combined with a longer bike ride and an interest in the landscape and history. When planning, the stated distance helps you realistically fit the excursion into your personal travel rhythm.

A Place in Transition

Pezzan’s history also includes a profound transformation of the landscape. A military airfield was built across a large part of Pezzan’s territory. As a result of the expropriation of their land, many families had to move. This development adds a more recent chapter to the older religious and historical traces, changing the way Pezzan is viewed as a settlement that has evolved over time.

Local Orientation and Set Dates

The On Pezzan 2026 festival was scheduled for 4 and 5 July 2026 in Pezzan and included games, local food and music. The Festa della Bufala includes a food stall, a charity lottery and fairground rides. When choosing accommodation in Pezzan, you can therefore first decide whether church art, historic routes, the cycling route or a festival date should be the focus of your stay. This allows you to select accommodation based on the interests of your travel group without mixing up the different themes of the place.
