Discover Dolo on the Naviglio Brenta

Villa Badoer Fattoretto and Museo del Villano

A central cultural point of interest is Villa Badoer Fattoretto. Its central building dates from the 16th century. The two side barchesse were built in the second half of the 18th century and remodelled in the 19th century. The collection of the Museo del Villano is displayed in eight rooms of the villa, covering a total of 1,000 m². It comprises around 20,000 objects, including historical documents, musical instruments and tools from rural life. In Dolo, you therefore encounter not only representative architecture but also tangible traces of everyday life.

Waterways and historical orientation

The Naviglio del Brenta also characterises the Isola Bassa in Dolo as a place of arrival by water: the pontoons there allow boats to moor and visitors to transfer. Since the 15th century, Dolo has served as a river port because of its lock. This combination of lock, river port and present-day moorings makes the waterside location an important part of understanding the town.

The Ex Macello is also practically integrated into the local orientation. You can reach it from the S.R. 11 – Padana Superiore via a footbridge; the Padova–Venezia public transport line runs there. The Squero Monumentale is a covered boatyard where the boats operating on the Brenta were repaired.

Walk through the fields and along the Naviglio

An easy walking route through Dolo begins and ends at the Isola Bassa di Dolo. It is 5.9 km long and takes around 1 hour and 25 minutes. Some sections follow unpaved paths through fields and then continue along the Naviglio Brenta. This makes it possible to experience Dolo on a manageable circular walk that combines the landscape, canal and history of the town. The route may be particularly appealing if you would like to include outdoor exercise alongside visits to museums.

Dolo in Fiore and activities on the water

Dolo in Fiore is a traditional event held on 1 May in the Isola Bassa. It also includes a rowing event featuring Voga alla Veneta. A kayaking activity with a booking option is also offered on the Naviglio in Dolo. Visits to the nearby Oasi Valle Averto take place exclusively as guided visits; a reservation is also always required. This site therefore follows a different visiting framework from the paths and points of interest in the town area.
