Discover Treschè Conca: Trails, History and Winter Experiences

Treschè Conca offers you a journey among hiking trails, military history and rural everyday culture. The village is located on the Asiago Plateau; when climbing from Vicenza via the Statale del “Costo,” you reach the first village on the plateau here.

Distinctive hiking trails

The Treschè Conca trail map includes eight marked hiking trails. They are classified by difficulty and walking time, allowing you to base your choice on the time available to you and the type of route you prefer. The CAI Route 804 follows a specific historical path: it leads from the church in Treschè Conca via Contrada Ostarelli, Contrada Dosso and Contrada Mosca to Forte Corbin.

The Narciso route also preserves a linguistic peculiarity of the area. Along its grassy sections, the paths are bordered by stone slabs. In Cimbrian, these slabs are called “Laste” or “Stoan Platten.” Terms like these give a hike a local connection without requiring a lengthy historical explanation.

Forte Corbin and the First World War

Forte Corbin was restored by its owners and developed as a museum. The Forte di Punta Corbin Military History Museum preserves numerous relics from the First World War. These include the fort’s original keys, a fragment of the original dome and many soldiers’ belongings.

The Forte Corbin–Monte Cengio memorial route follows the chronology of events from 1915 to 1916. Most of its route runs along military roads and mule tracks built before and during the First World War. If you are interested in history, you will therefore encounter not only dates here, but also different historical types of paths. Forte Corbin can also be reached from the church in Treschè Conca via a five-kilometre paved road.

Rural experiences and winter in Treschè Conca

Another side of the village is revealed by Il Cason delle Meraviglie. It is an educational farm in Treschè Conca, located in a renovated malga dating from the early 20th century. The “Un giorno da contadino” workshop includes hand milking as well as making cheese and butter according to traditional methods. This gives you an insight into traditional agricultural activities and the processing of dairy products.

In winter, Treschè Conca offers the “tappeto magico” just a few metres from the village centre. The conveyor belt allows descents on sledges and bob sleds, as well as first attempts at skiing, and is also suitable for small children.

The natural side of Treschè Conca includes roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), which can be observed in the village.
