Zugliano: Churches, Hills and Circular Routes

Zugliano combines sacred buildings, villas and a hilly landscape with several circular routes. Depending on the route, you will encounter flat and hilly sections.

Churches, Oratorio and Villa Giusti-Suman

Zugliano is home to the Pieve di Santa Maria. Its origins certainly predate the year 1000. The Oratorio di San Biagio is also located in the district of Grumolo Pedemonte; its origins date back to around the year 1000. The Oratorio di San Biagio stands on the first hills of the Bregonze.

The Chiesa dei Santi Maria e Zenone is Zugliano’s parish church. Villa Giusti-Suman is located on the slopes of the hills of Zugliano, on the Poggio del “Castello”, and overlooks the plain below.

Places to visit in the surrounding area

Several cultural and landscape-related destinations can also be found beyond the immediate townscape. In the vicinity of Zugliano are the Villa Godi palace, the Villa Piovene palace and the Palazzo Cornaggia palace. The Padiglione Fieristico museum is also located in the vicinity of Zugliano. The Giardini Del Bosco garden is likewise nearby. The Monte Alberelli mountain is located near Zugliano, while the Monte Summano mountain is in the area surrounding Zugliano. The Cave di Rubbio cave is also located in the surrounding area.

Circular routes between the Astico, Igna and Bregonze

The “Percorsi tra l’Astico e l’Igna” trail network comprises five circular routes in Zugliano. They pass through the municipality’s most distinctive areas and provide access to historical, cultural and natural attractions and landscapes. The routes differ in length, terrain and level of difficulty. The route lengths range from 6 km to approximately 33 km, allowing you to plan according to the desired duration and the character of the respective route.

The Anello Rosso No. 5 is a 7 km circular route starting in Centrale, a district of Zugliano. The Anello Blu No. 6 is 11.40 km long and passes through the flat and hilly areas of Zugliano, Grumolo Pedemonte and Centrale. The Anello Giallo No. 7 is an easy 6 km route in Centrale, consisting predominantly of flat terrain with some hilly sections.

The Anello Verde No. 8 is 6.6 km long and is designed as a moderate-to-easy route through the hilly landscape of Grumolo Pedemonte in Zugliano; it then descends into flatter sections. The Anello Arancio is approximately 33 km long, moderate to easy, and runs through Zugliano and its districts, as well as through Sarcedo, Carrè and Chiuppano. It can be completed on foot or by bicycle.

When you choose Zugliano, you can therefore choose between short routes with flat sections, hilly circular routes and a considerably longer route.
