The Museo Civico is housed in the historic Palazzo Gottifredo, a 13th-century building of civil architecture. It presents archaeological, epigraphic and demoethnoanthropological heritage connected with ancient Aletrium and its surrounding area. In the Collezione Antonio Gambardella, the demoethnoanthropological section comprises around 1,000 objects.
The Museo Diffuso di Alatri offers accessible routes, tactile signage, Braille and audio QR codes. It is also accessible by car, train and bus.
Sacred art and a long history
The sacred buildings also reflect several historical periods. The Chiostro di San Francesco is a 13th-century Franciscan complex with a Gothic church, a Renaissance cloister and the fresco Cristo nel Labirinto. This fresco was discovered in 1996 during work in the rooms adjoining the Chiostro di San Francesco. In the Concattedrale di San Paolo, the Ostia Incarnata is displayed in a glass case beside the right aisle. Santa Maria Maggiore houses the 13th-century Romanesque wooden group Madonna di Costantinopoli, decorated with polychrome scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary.
Hiking and pilgrimage routes

Religious tradition and an announced date
An annual celebration of the Eucharistic Miracle of the Ostia Incarnata includes a procession carrying the relic on the Acropolis of Alatri. The 11th Sagra dei Maccaruni has also been announced for Alatri, from 8 August to 11 August 2026.
