Passirano: Culture and Routes in Franciacorta

Passirano lies in the heart of Franciacorta, combining a green hilly landscape with neatly arranged vineyards. Churches and Palazzo Zani

A prominent example of the local architectural heritage is the chapel of Palazzo Zani, dedicated to Saint Andrew. It was built as a family chapel in the 18th-century style. Its integration into the palazzo makes it an independent cultural destination within the local landscape.

The Chiesa Parrocchiale di S. Zenone was Passirano’s first parish church and dates back to the Middle Ages. On its eastern side is a loggia with six arches and 52 votive offerings dedicated to the local cult of the “Madonna dell’Abito”. The church also contains an 18th-century altarpiece attributed to Sante Cattaneo. Here, several layers of sacred art and local devotion therefore come together in one place.

Three routes for different paces

The “3 Passi” project offers three routes – “Primo Passo”, “Buon Passo” and “Gran Passo” – for discovering Passirano and its surrounding area. The three routes can be used on foot, by bicycle, with a stroller or while running. This allows different ways of experiencing the landscape to be incorporated into your daily plans, without placing a single mode of transport at the centre.

A further point of orientation is provided by the “Anello Borghi rurali di Rodengo Saiano” loop trail. It is 10 km long; near Passirano, you rejoin the main trail. Its documented length helps you compare this loop with the three routes of the “3 Passi” project and realistically assess your preferred pace of movement.

Vineyards and a castle viewed from outside

The privately managed Castello di Passirano cannot be visited inside. However, it can be viewed from the outside during a walk or tour through the vineyards. This combination of a rural setting and a clearly defined exterior view is particularly suited to a stay in which you want to explore the town and its surroundings step by step.

Getting there and finding your way around the town

Passirano is served by Trenord’s Brescia–Iseo–Edolo regional railway line. Passirano station is a 20-minute walk from the town centre. This geographical orientation is relevant when choosing accommodation if you want to combine train travel, sightseeing in the town and routes through the surrounding area in your travel plans.

Farms and wine tastings
