Churches, fresco and construction phases in Trebbio

The Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo stands on a hilltop in a dominant position. It was built in the first decades of the 18th century, around 1723. Inside, it has a single nave and is completely frescoed; it also has side altars and a choir loft on the left.

A religious fresco from the 17th century can be found on Casa Piccinelli, a former kindergarten on Via San Martino in Trebbio. It depicts the Madonna and Child, Saint Martin and Saint Anthony of Padua. The fresco therefore features the same two saint names that appear in the names of Trebbio’s churches.

The Chiesa di Sant’Antonio di Padova in Trebbio also tells the story of several construction phases. It was built between the 14th and 16th centuries, rebuilt in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and completed around 1879. Upon its completion around 1879, it was dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. Compared with San Martino, its construction history dates back further and includes several later building phases.

Sentiero della Resistenza: route, terrain and getting there

Trebbio is one of the possible starting points for Sentiero della Resistenza No. 10, titled “Della Libertà e dei Caduti trevigiani”. Trebbio is one of the possible starting points, not part of the entire route. The trail runs along the ridges between Idro, Treviso Bresciano, Provaglio Valle Sabbia and Val Degagna. It also passes through rugged, remote and little-visited areas.

To reach Treviso Bresciano: from Idro and Capovalle, the village can only be reached via the provincial road SP56. There are several parking areas in the town centre, particularly at the start of the route.
