Bormio combines culture, thermal waters, nature and winter sports in one destination with clearly distinguishable focal points. The Museo Civico di Bormio, Bormio Terme, the Giardino Botanico Alpino Rezia and the Pista Stelvio provide four specific starting points for exploring the area. Historic Centre and Museo Civico

Bormio’s historic centre features old churches, palaces, rural houses, portals, frescoes and other artistic testimonies. Bormio is also home to a distinctive arched bridge built directly on rock.

The Museo Civico di Bormio was founded in 1962 and designated the town museum in 1967. It is arranged across fourteen rooms and manages a collection of 3,000 pieces divided into two sections. The collections tell the story of the history and traditions of the Magnifica Terra. The museum is housed in the typical wood-panelled rooms of the Palazzo de Simoni, a 17th-century palace built on the remains of a medieval castle.

Botanical Garden on Monte Reit

The Giardino Botanico Alpino Rezia is located in the Campello district north of Bormio, on the slopes of Monte Reit, and covers 14,400 square metres. From the town centre, you can reach it on foot in twenty minutes via an uphill road. The garden recreates representative habitats of the flora of Stelvio National Park and also includes systematic and plant-geographical collections. Interactive stations, self-guided trails and guided events are also part of the garden. From June to September, free public guided tours take place there weekly.

Thermal Centre and Park Information

Bormio Terme is located in the centre of Bormio and has been a specialised thermal centre since 1920. The facility offers indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and steam baths. The thermal water is used for inhalation treatments, balneotherapy, mud therapy, physiotherapy, rehabilitation in thermal water and a vascular circuit.

The Torre Alberti information centre of Stelvio National Park in Bormio provides information about characteristic places in the protected area. It supports independent planning of excursions and provides information about organised park activities. During the high season, you can register there for organised excursions.

The Pista Stelvio

The Pista Stelvio was inaugurated in 1982 for the first edition of the World Series. It hosted two editions of the Alpine World Ski Championships, in 1985 and 2005, as well as two World Cup finals, in 1995 and 2008. Since 1993, it has been the venue for the men’s World Cup downhill event. The course is 3,250 metres long, has a vertical drop of 1,010 metres, starts at an altitude of 2,255 metres and ends in the heart of Bormio at 1,225 metres.
