Busca between culture, gardens and trails

Busca brings together historic religious buildings, a museum dedicated to former working worlds, public gardens and trails for different kinds of activities. These are joined by a long-standing festival, an international concert series and local carnival masks. The different themes give your trip several concrete points of reference – from art and history to walks, bike rides and regional traditions.

Churches, art and local history

The Chiesa Parrocchiale “Maria Vergine Assunta” was built in 1717 on the site of an earlier Gothic church. It features Busca alabaster arranged to imitate walnut wood. The present-day Confraternita della SS.ma Annunziata, known as La Bianca, was built according to a design by Francesco Gallo between 1728 and 1735. Its uniform pictorial decoration was created by Giuseppe Delamano in 1736.

The Confraternita della SS.ma Trinità, known as La Rossa, is the oldest Baroque building in Busca. It houses a 15th-century painting that may be an early work by the Biazaci. The Cappella di San Sebastiano has an apse dating from before the year 1000. The decoration of its portico vault was created by the school of the Biazaci brothers and tells the story of Saint Sebastian in four vaulted panels.

The Parco-Museo dell’Ingenio opened in 2018 in the former monastery of the Capuchin friars. It displays numerous historic machines, handicrafts and other artefacts, including an extensive collection of bobbin lace. The museum also contains miniatures depicting the history of agricultural, industrial and artisanal work in Piedmont.

Gardens and trails along the Maira

The Parco Maira stretches along the Maira and includes viewing terraces, seating areas and a small footbridge. A protected trail also runs along the Maira; it is suitable for walks with children and families and is easily accessible from the town centre. The Giardino dell’Infinito is a public garden designed according to the principles of biodiversity and permaculture. The park around Castello del Roccolo covers around 50 hectares and was laid out according to the design principles of a romantic garden.

Active days and cultural events

The Strada dei Cannoni also provides a clear focus for active days. It begins at the Colletta di Rossana in the Busca area and reaches the Colle della Bicocca at an altitude of 2,285 metres after 42 kilometres. Pedestrians and cyclists can use it free of charge every day. This makes it possible to distinguish walks, longer hikes and bike rides as different forms of trip planning.

Recurring events and local figures are part of Busca’s cultural character. The Festa della Madonnina has been celebrated every year on the first Sunday in August since 1755. Busca also hosts the international concert series “Musicaè”, which reached its 22nd artistic season in 2026. Micun and Micunetta are the masks of Busca’s carnival and are connected with the local bread-making culture. The Eremo di Belmonte became a centre of devotion and a pilgrimage destination in 1614 under the Camaldolese monks of Saint Romuald.
