Archaeological Traces and the Sanctuary
At the sanctuary, San Priamo combines religious traditions with the area's archaeological traces.
The Giants' Tomb of Su Presoni is a collective burial site of the “a filari” type. This type chronologically follows older dolmen-like forms. The structure's architectural characteristics can also be seen on site: the corridor is over 15 meters long and partially collapsed, while the façade with its architrave entrance is well preserved. During a visit, the corridor and façade can be viewed as two distinct structural elements of the same tomb. This provides visitors interested in cultural history with an illustrative introduction to its construction and chronological classification.
At the San Priamo sanctuary site, human use since the Early Neolithic period, from 4300 to 4000 BC, is evidenced by the presence of a domus de janas. The spring at the San Priamo sanctuary has traditionally been attributed with miraculous powers.
The Sanctuary of San Priamo is located near the town of San Priamo on the mountain of the same name and is easily accessible from the SS 125 state road.
Trails in the San Priamo Valley
The Fassoni–Su Presoni hiking trail leads from the former SS 125 in the Fassoni area to the Giants' Tomb of Su Presoni. The tomb is also the endpoint of Trail 421 and the starting point of Spur 421A. Those planning to follow Trail 421 or Spur 421A can use the Giants' Tomb of Su Presoni as their reference point.
The Sentieri Primitivi project is the first phase of a more comprehensive project to enhance the San Priamo Valley. It is intended to connect and make accessible the area's numerous archaeological monuments through a network of trails. A visit to San Priamo can also include the valley's trail network.
The restored trail in the San Priamo Valley area can be explored on foot, by bicycle and on horseback. A section approximately 400 meters long is equipped for use by blind people. When planning routes, the approximately 400-meter equipped section should be considered as a distinct segment within the restored trail.
Beaches and Destinations in the Surrounding Area
The beaches of Spiaggia di Cala Sa Figu, Spiaggia Porto Pirastu, Spiaggia Del Rei Sole and Spiaggia di Porto Corallo are located around San Priamo.
The ancient site of Nuraghe Sa Domu e S'Orcu is also located around San Priamo; the Museo del territorio museum is likewise in the surrounding area. Further afield in the region are Castello di Quirra and the Museo Archeologico museum.
