Churches and historical traces
The Chiesa di San Nicolò Vescovo stands at the highest point of the town. It was reconstructed before 1763 and occupies the site where the Nuragh'e luxia once stood. This was one of the seven most important nuraghi in the San Nicolò d'Arcidano area.
Monuments and rural heritage
The Monumento Su Tostoiu is a stone sculpture in the shape of a turtle and has long been regarded as a symbol of the Arcidanesi. The Monumento ai caduti is located in Piazzetta Francesco Garau e Nicolò Garau. It is dedicated to the Arcidanesi who fell in the First and Second World Wars and specifically commemorates two silver medals for military valor from the First World War.
The cultural landscape also includes the Museo Etnografico all'aperto. It contains historic agricultural implements: an old press made entirely of wood, a horse-drawn cart with wooden wheels and two millstones.
Spring, basalt and waterways
The ancient Mitza de Fagoni spring is a circular spring in the shape of a tholos; its dome is made of basalt. The San Nicolò d'Arcidano area is also crossed by the Flumini Mannu and Rio Sitzerri waterways. Visitors interested in historical architectural forms and water-related landscapes will find different facets of the town here.
Viticulture and local events
San Nicolò d'Arcidano's viticulture is particularly known for the grape varieties Bovale and Su Muristellu, which produce highly regarded wines. Arcidano Produce is also an exhibition and sales event for agricultural and handicraft products held in San Nicolò d'Arcidano in mid-August. The 23rd edition of the Sagra della pecora was scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025.
