Leifers between the town centre and Brantental Valley

The Leifers high trail begins at the intersection of Kennedystrasse and Weissensteinerstrasse in the centre of Leifers. It initially runs along Weissensteinerstrasse, passes the parish church and then continues for around four kilometres into Brantental Valley. If you enjoy getting around on foot, you can include this trail in your plans as a direct connection between the town centre, church and countryside. Anyone planning to complete the entire trail should allow not only for the route itself but also extra time for the return journey and breaks.

Views of the Dolomites

Titschenwarte is a lookout point above Laives offering views of the Dolomites, including Schlern, Rosengarten and Latemar. From Schneiderwiesen restaurant, trails 1 and 5A lead to Titschenwarte in around 45 minutes. This provides another route to a viewpoint in addition to the high trail. Titschenwarte is particularly worth noting in your day plan if you want to combine a mountain panorama with a clearly defined destination. When planning the time needed for the route from the restaurant to the lookout, you must also allow for the return journey; the 45 minutes do not cover the entire journey there and back.

Traces of history and religion

Leifers also offers several different points of interest from a cultural and historical perspective. Enzbirg is an Iron Age hill fort on Monte Largo, on the border between Laives and Nova Ponente. San Pietro Church was formerly the chapel of Lichtenstein Castle. In Laives, the historic part of the parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate and San Nicolò was first mentioned in 1286; this part also contains the miraculous sculpture of the Madonna di Pietralba. The modern part of this parish church was built from 2000 onwards and consecrated in 2004. The historic and modern parts of the parish church belong to different construction phases.

Museums and a palace in the surrounding area

The surrounding area of Laives is also home to Castel Firmiano, Museion and the Museum Arge Kunst Bolzano; all three are museums. Palazzo Mercantile is a palace in the surrounding area of Laives.

Mountains in the surrounding area of Laives

The landscape around Laives includes several mountains and peaks. Monte Francesco is a peak in the immediate vicinity of Laives. Monte Pozza and Monte Penegal are mountains in the surrounding area of Laives, while Monte Toval is considered a peak in the same area. This distinction between mountain and peak is retained, giving the surrounding area several clearly defined high-altitude destinations. For travellers who would like to include mountain landscapes in their trip to Italy, these names provide another thematic focus of Leifers.
