Historic Center, Wine Trail and Museum

Tramin on the Wine Road combines local history with wine landscapes and natural themes. If you would like to get to know the village via a characteristic trail, the Gewürztraminer Trail begins in Tramin’s historic center, the “Bethlehem,” and leads through the Traminer vineyards.

History at Rathausplatz

The Hoamet-Tramin Museum is located at Rathausplatz. It comprises 11 exhibition rooms spread across three floors. Its subject matter ranges from archaeology and contemporary history to viticulture and carnival, as well as domestic life, crafts and geology. Anyone interested in the development of the village, its everyday culture and the connection between landscape and wine will find several different perspectives within this museum.

Nature and Geology around Tramin

The Tramin Nature Experience Trail features informational panels explaining the flora, fauna and geology. Nature is made accessible not only as a landscape, but also through its plant life, animal life and geological connections. The Traminer Höllental Geotrail offers a different focus: along the trail there are impressive rock formations, traces of mudslides, rocks millions of years old and fossils. This allows you to consider nature observation and geological history as two clearly distinct themes when planning your day.

The peaks and mountains in the surrounding area also broaden the connection with the landscape. Col di Sotto is a summit in the vicinity of Termeno, as is Schwarzer Kopf. Monte Roen is a mountain in the vicinity of Termeno. La Madrutta is a summit in the area around Termeno. These various elevations therefore form part of the broader landscape setting in which you can view Tramin, without equating them with destinations in the historic center.

Fasnacht with a Long Tradition

The Egetmann procession is considered one of Tyrol’s oldest Fasnacht traditions. It was first documented in 1591. On Shrove Tuesday in every odd-numbered year, the Egetmann procession makes its way through Tramin. For your travel planning, this cycle provides clear guidance on timing if you would like to combine your visit with a special traditional event.

Way of the Cross and Chapel

The Kastelaz Way of the Cross is 880 meters long; the walking time is approximately 30 minutes. Its approximate duration makes it a manageable spiritual trail section during your stay.
